Use KTAG to read ECU ME9.7

This blog below will show you the steps how I use KTAG to read ECU ME9.7. Hope it helps users.

My car: Mercedes W221 S350

Device i used: KTAG ECU PROGRAMMER

i bought it from obd2express.co.uk at a nice price €75, i know that its retail price is €130

 

Note: Try this Tutorial AT YOUT OWN RISK!

Step1.

Before start reading ECU, i make a backup copy firstly.

First heat the ECU unit edge and open ECU carefully.

ECU inside as picture show:

Step2.

Open KTAG software.

Then I Choose “Mercedes” “S (W221)” and “S350 3500 V6…BOSCH ME9.7”.

Connect then cable 14P600KT02 to the connector of ECU.

Refer to below pin out diagram:

Red color: Pin 15, 16: +12V

Black: Pin 2: GND

Step3. Apply solder paste on the red area in ECU as following picture:

Solder cable to ECU:

Step4. Go Back to KATG software and choose plug-in “P102”.

I clicked “Read” and wait for a while.

Then Save the bin file.

Finally, i successfully used K-TAG chip tuning tool to read Mercedes W221 ME9.7 ECU !

Ready to install XPROG 5.7.0:

Open DVD disk (D:)

Copy all files to Desktop, ready for use

 

Part 1 - Install Adobe Reader XI

Run AdbeRdr11000_zh_CN application to install

Preparation steup...

Click Next

Auto install, click Install

Installing Adobe Reader XI...

Adobe Reader XI installation success. Click Finish

Part 2 - Install Registry Editor

Run The registry

Yes to continue

Keys and values have been successfully added to the registry. Click OK

Part 3 - Install driver software and computer management setup

Open folder XPROG-BOX5.7.0English on Desktop

Then open XPROG-BOX5.7.0English-> XProgDesktop application

Accept the agreement

In the xprog v5.7.0, you will find that Port Undefined

The system also prompts “Device driver software was not successfully installed”

Click the prompt info (xprog box: no driver found) and click Close

Open Computer Management

Select Device Manager-> XPROG-BOX

Right click for Update Driver Software...

Browse my computer for driver software manually

Browse Desktop/ XPROG-BOX drive/ WINDOW 7

Then OK.. Next

Install this driver software anyway

Windows has successfully updated your device software. Click Close

Back to Computer Management

Select Device Manager-> Other Device-> USB Serial Port

Right click for Update Driver Software...

Browse my computer for driver software manually

Browse Desktop/ XPROG-BOX drive/ WINDOW 7

Then OK.. Next

Install this driver software anyway

Windows has successfully updated your device software for XPROG-BOX programmer (COM3). Click Close

In Computer management, Ports (COM & LPT)-> XPROG-box programmer (COM3)

How to solve Kess v2 ksuite “Protocol not compatible”

Here is a customer solution of Kess V2 Ksuite v2.22 protocol error “Protocol not compatible with version FW”. Put it for sharing. Wish it helps anyone.

 

The customer bought SE87-C (kess v2 master v4.036 ksuite v2.22).
He got the error message“Protocol not compatible with version FW.”when trying to read a Audi 2,0tdi 2007 BRD engine. Ecu: Siemens PPD1.3 I
I have test software version 2.06-2.22 same problem.

Then the customer have successfully solved the Kess v2 protocol error himself.

 

He said as below:

“I have solved the protocol error myself.
Here is how: I installed the ksuite 2.06 full, then copy the ksuite 2.08 who is in the token reset folder that has the firmware's in update folder into my install directory. (like you do in the video for the ksuite 2.08)”
